Bagus POS Alternative Malaysia: ROVA vs Bagus POS on Pricing and Hardware
By the ROVA team · Published · 7 min read
ROVA is a good Bagus POS alternative in Malaysia if you run a restaurant or café and want QR ordering, published pricing and minimal hardware. ROVA charges RM49–RM199 a month plus 1.5–2.5% of revenue, and runs in a browser on tablets you may already own. Bagus POS advertises a zero monthly software fee, but does not publish hardware or payment rates, so you need a written quote to compare. Bagus POS suits businesses that want counter terminals and card acceptance from one vendor; ROVA suits owners who want predictable costs.
The short version
- Choose ROVA for F&B with QR ordering, your own domain and a hardware-light setup.
- Choose Bagus POS for counter terminals, handheld card readers, retail checkout or event rentals.
- The real comparison is total cost over 12–36 months, not the headline monthly fee.
This comparison uses both companies' public websites as of 8 October 2026. Bagus POS quotes are by sales enquiry, so anything not published is marked as such. Confirm current terms directly with each vendor.
What is Bagus POS?
Bagus POS is a Malaysian POS and payments provider (Bagus POS Solution Sdn Bhd) serving retail and F&B. Its site lists three products: BagusWIN (a POS system for high-volume operations), BagusONE (an all-in-one counter terminal with inventory, order management and a customer display) and BagusPay (a handheld payment terminal). It also lists QR ordering, tablet ordering, cashierless self-service, membership and POS rental as add-on solutions.
It calls its model "FinPOS": a POS combined with payment acceptance. That is a legitimate approach, and it explains why software can be advertised at zero monthly cost.
What is ROVA?
ROVA is a browser-based QR ordering and POS platform built for Malaysian F&B. Customers scan a table QR code to order, orders reach the kitchen by screen or cloud printer, and payment through a gateway is optional. QR codes are generated dynamically per session to prevent fake orders, and each restaurant gets its own server space and ordering domain. See how ROVA's QR ordering works.

What ROVA actually costs
ROVA's fee scales with sales, so you pay less while you are small:
- RM8,000 monthly revenue on Basic: RM49 + RM200 = RM249 per month.
- RM15,000 on Popular: RM99 + RM300 = RM399 per month.
- RM30,000 on Pro: RM199 + RM450 = RM649 per month.
Compare tiers on the ROVA pricing calculator. New restaurants also get their first month's revenue fee waived.
Why "zero monthly fee" needs a closer look
A zero software fee is attractive, but the cost has to come from somewhere: hardware, card and e-wallet rates, settlement terms, or a minimum term. Bagus POS's own site says rates shown are illustrative and exclude SST. Neither is a criticism, but you cannot compare RM0 a month with RM99 a month until you see those numbers. Our guide to payment gateway fees in Malaysia shows how 1–3% per sale adds up on a busy restaurant.
Hardware: terminals vs two tablets and a printer
This is the biggest practical difference. Bagus POS is built around purpose-made terminals, including an all-in-one counter unit and a handheld card reader. That gives you integrated payments, a customer-facing display and hardware designed for a busy counter, which suits retail and counter-service.
ROVA is browser-based. Most restaurants run it on two tablets and a cloud printer. If you already own tablets, the minimum hardware cost is the RM650 cloud printer. If you buy tablets, ROVA's options start at RM250 each (Lenovo Tab M8), with Samsung Galaxy Tab A11 at RM899 and iPad Mini at RM2,699. Two Lenovo tablets plus the printer comes to RM1,150. Our cloud POS setup guide walks through the 15-minute install.
The trade-off: ROVA does not ship its own payment terminal, so card acceptance comes from your gateway or acquirer of choice.
Which should you choose?
ROVA fits better if you:
- Run a restaurant, café, mamak or food court and want customers ordering from their phones.
- Want a published price list you can budget against.
- Prefer a hardware-light setup on tablets you can replace cheaply.
- Want your own ordering domain instead of a vendor's.
Bagus POS fits better if you:
- Want one vendor for POS, card terminals and merchant acquiring.
- Need counter hardware for retail, or handheld terminals for payments away from the till.
- Run events or pop-ups and want POS rental.
- Value an integrated loyalty and membership app.
